Elections 2025 & Co-Option

As Hayle’s three Wards are uncontested which means nominated candidates and pre-existing candidates will be elected automatically, there will be no election called for Hayle Town Councillors on 1 May 2025.

Notice of Uncontested Elections for 2025 can viewed here.

From the 2 May 2025 you can apply to be a co-opted town councillor. Details on how to apply are further below.

What is Co-Option?

This is the process of where a vacant seat on a parish or town council is filled by appointment rather than an election.

When does Co-Option Occur?

  • if there aren’t enough candidates after an election
  • a councillor resigns or dies
  • a disqualification occurs
  • when a councillor stands down mid-term

The following vacancies are available:

Hayle Central Ward: 2 vacancies
Hayle East Ward: 2 vacancies
Hayle West Ward: 1 vacancy
