As Hayle’s three Wards are uncontested which means nominated candidates and pre-existing candidates will be elected automatically, there will be no election called for Hayle Town Councillors on 1 May 2025.

From the 2 May 2025 you can apply to be a co-opted town councillor. Details on how to apply are further below.
What is Co-Option?
This is the process of where a vacant seat on a parish or town council is filled by appointment rather than an election.
When does Co-Option Occur?
- if there aren’t enough candidates after an election
- a councillor resigns or dies
- a disqualification occurs
- when a councillor stands down mid-term
The following vacancies are available:
Your council should represent the diversity of Hayle’s community. Perhaps you’re a Hayle community group champion, local business owner, creative and artistic practitioner, or a sports club leader? If you’re passionate about Hayle’s community and want to be part of the team leading change, why not put yourself forward?
To be a Local Councillor you must be:
- Aged 18 and over
- a British, Commonwealth or European Citizen
- Registered to vote in the area or have lived, worked, or owned property within 3 miles of the parish for at least 12 months before nomination as a candidate
The Hayle Parish area consists of three wards: East, West and Central.

Please complete the below application form and email to info@hayletowncouncil.gov.uk by 5pm or return to our offices by 22 May 2025.
